How Mountly handles your data — and what it doesn't collect.
Last updated: October 15, 2026
Mountly (“we”, “our”, “us”) is a macOS application that mounts cloud storage — Amazon S3, Google Drive, FTP and SFTP — as local volumes in the Finder. This policy explains what data we handle, what we don't, and the choices you have. It is written to be as short and honest as the product itself.
1. The short version
Mountly does not collect, store, transmit or sell your personal data. The app has no account, no analytics, no trackers and no advertising. Your credentials and files stay on your Mac and move only between you and the storage provider you connect to.
2. Data we collect
None. Mountly does not collect personal data, usage data, or diagnostic data. We have no server to send it to, and no analytics SDK in the app.
3. Data processed on your device
To do its job, Mountly processes the following locally on your Mac. None of it is sent to us:
- Credentials and tokens. Passwords, access keys, SSH keys and OAuth tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain, encrypted at rest, and used only to authenticate with the storage provider you selected.
- File data. When you open, edit or upload a file, content moves directly between your Mac and your storage provider. Mountly does not route, cache-on-somewhere-else, or retain your files.
- Connection metadata. Hostnames, ports and folder paths are stored in your local preferences so your volumes can be re-mounted.
4. Third-party services
Mountly connects to services that are not operated by us. When you use them, those providers process data according to their own privacy policies:
- Google Drive — sign-in uses Google's OAuth flow. You authenticate with Google directly; Mountly receives an access token that is stored in your Keychain and used only to read and write your Google Drive. See Google's privacy policy for how Google handles your data.
- Amazon S3 and S3-compatible services (Cloudflare R2, Backblaze B2, MinIO, DigitalOcean Spaces, etc.) — governed by each provider's own policy.
- FTP / SFTP servers — governed by whoever operates the server you connect to.
5. Crash and diagnostic reports
Mountly does not collect crash or diagnostic data itself. If the app crashes, macOS may offer to send a report to Apple, subject to Apple's privacy policy — not to us.
6. Children's privacy
Mountly does not collect data from anyone, including children under 13. The app does not require or request any personal information.
7. App Store privacy details
In Apple's App Privacy “nutrition label”, Mountlydeclares “Data Not Collected” across all categories: no identifiers, no usage data, no diagnostics, no contact info and no purchases or financial information are collected by the developer.
8. Changes to this policy
If we ever change how Mountly handles data, we will update this page and note the date of change above. Because the current design collects nothing, any such change would be a fundamental one — and we will be transparent about it.
